Happy New Year lovely people! I’m usually not one to make a big deal about chiming in the new year but boy am I glad to see the back of 2016! Last year was full of up and downs (more downs) but I can say that I’m grateful for how much the downs taught me and as a result helped me set goals for this year and onwards. As well as career goals, lifestyle goals and faith goals, this year I’m trying something new and have set myself some style/shopping goals. I hope that by sharing mine, you create ones for yourself but also that you all keep me accountable so I actually stick to them for the rest of the year! Not in any particular order…
Wear more colour
In summer, colour is all I wear so this goal is more for AW17/18 to be honest. After witnessing the street style and highlights from Fashion Week in the fashion capitals of the world, my fave trends were definitely: red & pink ensembles, powder blue paired with denim and that orange that’s so bright and juicy, you just wanna squeeze it. For my street style outfit faves, go pree my street style board.
Wear what I have > buying more
I forget what I buy. So I buy more. And the cycle continues. I guess this comes with being an avid online shopper but I have just as many clothes that I’ve never worn before compared to those that I have. So the plan is to treat myself to a new item for every two old new ones that I wear.
More selling on my Depop, eBay but more importantly I want to donate more old clothes and shoes to local charity shops on a regular/seasonal basis.
Discover more ethical brands
Last year I invested money in some clothes made either partially or wholly from recycled materials from my new favourite brand Weekday. I want to find more brands like this, especially those that support fair working conditions for labourers. If you know any, please share them in the comments.
Find the perfect jeans (or five..maybe fifteen)
Topshop’s Joni are the ONLY jeans I enjoy wearing and feel comfortable in. That needs to change this year. If anything, I want denim to be what I buy the most of this year with enough pieces to form a mini collection.
Not everyday trainers.
Do not fear wearing white
Black and grey have always been my favourite colours to wear. They go with everything, flatter me the most and I don’t have to wash/iron them as often (lazy I know!). The ease of the dark side has kept me stuck in my comfort zone and right now it’s boring me so I’m attempting to do a 360 and opt for more white. Not just trainers (too easy) but mainly trousers, accessories and I can’t forget a classic white tee.
Don’t forget to tell me in the comments at least one personal style or shopping goal you have for 2017 and why and who knows, you might encourage me to add it on to my list.
Thank you for reading my first ever post on The Sale Shopper and I hope you come back to check on me and how I’m getting on with these goals!
